Custom Engineering of a Graphite Tool for Heavy Duty Engine Head Gaskets
At CLL Engineering, it’s our goal to keep our customers competitive by providing them with precise, functional, and reliable tooling that results in streamlined operations, minimal material waste, and low maintenance costs. We manufactured the large compound die shown here for a customer in the heavy duty equipment industry. Featuring graphite construction with a stainless steel core, this die allows the cutting of internal and external part features on a single press stroke.
Designed for use in the manufacture of an engine head gasket, our challenge was to fabricate this die to meet the ±.0005" tolerance requirements. Our highly experienced toolmakers utilized advanced CAD modeling tools, engineered prototypes, and crafted the precise geometry using our Illinois of the art machinery. We manufactured and tested the die, which features dimensions of 30" in length and 40" in width, and delivered it fine-tuned and ready for the stamping press.
When your project requires the highest level of precision, the multi-disciplined team at CLL Engineering will expertly manufacture tooling both cost effectively and with dimensional tolerances that are not achievable at many of our competitors. Contact us today to learn more.
